Delaware Association of REALTORS® Celebrates Fair Housing Month and the 40th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act
Dover, DE - Delaware Association of REALTORS® President Donald P. Ash joined Governor Ruth Ann Minner, the State Human Relations Commission and Housing Opportunities of Northern Delaware, Inc. in a Proclamation Signing Ceremony designating April, 2008 as Fair Housing Month.
Members of the Delaware Association of REALTORS® subscribe to the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics whereby REALTORS® shall not deny equal professional services to any person for reasons of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin. "Our Code of Ethics says that REALTORS® shall not be a party to any plan or agreement to discriminate against any person and that in their real estate employment practice shall not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin," said Donald Ash.
President Ash noted that "DAR members embrace our state's racial and ethnic diversity and strive to make the benefits of real property ownership available to all. Our three local organizations are committed to promoting diversity throughout the year and are sharing in promoting fair housing this month through a number of programs."
One such program, the National Association of REALTORS® Diversity Class is being offered free to the public by the New Castle County Board of REALTORS® on April 14th from 9 am to 5 pm, with registration open at 8:30.
