What is GRI?

The Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation is a professional development training program for residential real estate professionals interested in increasing their knowledge and business skills in the fundamentals of real estate practice.  The GRI is offered in a flexible format consisting of six two-day courses.  Candidates must completed all six required courses for a total of 90 curriculum hours.

The GRI designation is only available to licensed agents who are members of the REALTOR® organization, thus making it a prestigious industry achievement for those who acquire it, not to mention an important business referral tool.

The GRI is the only REALTOR® designation that does not require a payment of an annual renewal fee and is administered by the State Association.

Why GRI?

A GRI designation holder typically earns 40% more annually than REALTORS® not holding the designation.

19% of all REALTORS® have earned the GRI.

The Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation indicates to buyers, sellers and other real estate industry professionals that you have made the commitment to provide a high level of professional services to your clients by securing a strong educational foundation.

The GRI program expands your network of real estate professionals through course contacts and generates more leads and referrals across the nation.

Only those REALTORS® who successfully complete the GRI program have the privilege of joining the prestigious group of REALTOR® Institute graduates.

Credit Hours

GRI courses are applicable to the Delaware Real Estate Commission’s annual continuing education requirements.  Each module offers 15 hours of GRI credit; 9 hours of those can be used as DREC elective credits.

It isn't just alphabet soup behind your name when you show your business card and it includes GRI and maybe some other designations.  The GRI, Graduate Realtor Institute,  is an acronym that demonstrates to your clients and to other real estate professionals that you are advanced in your field.  You have taken the time and care enough to stop your daily showing activity, take your personal free time and sat down with books, spent hours in a classroom and then demonstrated your knowledge by passing a test.

You have proven that handling your clients' needs is a big deal!

So gaining a designation is similar to earning an advanced collegiate degree.  It proves that you are better than the average agent.  You took the time to learn, your clients will see the difference and so will you!

But why earn the GRI designation?

Whatever your experience level, the GRI is designed to augment your knowledge base and to be accessible to all REALTORS'...

The GRI does not require

  • Minimum transaction or income requirements.
  • Continuing education requirements.
  • Annual fees.

The only time and financial commitment is to pay for and attend the 6 modules of 2-day classes for $195 each and the small $25 application fee.  DAR is also working to provide part of the GRI modules online to reduce your travel time.

In return you get education, referral and networking opportunities both in the class and as part of the Nationwide GRI community.
